WHEN IS IT APPROPRIATE TO USE COMPOSITE FILLINGS?
Composite fillings are typically made of a resin and glass mixture, which are tinted to match the color of your tooth, and commonly referred to as “white” or “tooth-colored” fillings. They serve an important purpose for teeth that are visible when smiling, providing an aesthetic benefit not afforded by silver fillings.

ADVANTAGES OF TOOTH-COLORED RESTORATIONS

Some of the resins used in tooth-colored restorations contain fluoride which help prevent tooth decay. Another advantage of white fillings is that they require a minimum amount of tooth structure to be removed. If there is an area that needs repaired in the future only that portion needs to be removed rather than the entire filling material.
