Dental fillings are used to treat different dental problems like cavities and broken teeth. Teeth are usually filled with a material called composite resin, which is designed to look like your natural teeth. Fillings can also be done with gold, porcelain, or silver amalgam.

Composite resin takes a little longer and is more technique sensitive but most people still prefer it for the natural-look it provides. The material is placed in multiple layers, using a special light to harden it.

Before you get a filling, you will get a local anesthetic to numb the gums around your tooth. We will then clean away the bad and decayed part of your tooth so your tooth is ready to be filled. Sometimes when the decay is deep a special material is placed to protect the nerve. Once your tooth is filled in, we will smooth over the rough edges and polish it so it looks and feels natural.

Depending on the damage, the amount of time to fill each tooth varies. The cost typically increases as more surfaces of the tooth needs restored.
